The Peppone and Don Camillo Museum was established following the 1989 exhibition featuring objects used in the film series dedicated to the famous characters by Giovannino Guareschi, Peppone and Don Camillo, filmed in Brescello.
This formed the first core of the collection, later transformed into a permanent exhibition made up of props, posters, original flyers, set photographs, and printed materials related to the films shot between 1951 and 1965.
In the square, the famous tank, star of a memorable episode, welcomes visitors, while among the memorabilia kept in the main hall are Peppone’s motorcycle and Don Camillo’s bicycle; other rooms have also reconstructed Don Camillo’s rectory and Peppone’s kitchen.
Since 1996, a room along the exhibition path has housed the workshop of luthier Raffaele Vaccari, violin maker originally from Lentigione, a district of Brescello. Display cases with tools, instrument molds, and rich photographic material document his internationally distributed work. A permanent retrospective exhibition of photographs, writings, drawings by Guareschi, and related film clips is set up by his children at the Busseto Study Center dedicated to the Parma writer.
