When visiting the museum, you immediately sense the spirit, soul, and passion of its creator. This is the feeling that visitors experience at the Francesco Ogliari Transport Museum, among the most prominent figures in international culture, located in Ranco, a small and charming town on the Lombard shore of Lake Maggiore. The pathos, the tension of the powerful bronze statue by sculptor Arnaldo Conti, placed at the entrance and depicting a man with outstretched arms struggling to pull a coal cart with a rope—an image almost resembling a cross—perfectly describes the Museum’s philosophy: the toil of man, a toil that is not only physical but spiritual, the will to never stop, to never give up, to courageously overcome every adversity, material or spiritual.
