The museum is divided into several sections and showcases the archaeological finds from the northwestern Basilicata region.
The first section presents the results of excavations carried out at the important settlement of Baragiano, through the reconstruction of a sector of the archaic necropolis, where the most significant funerary assemblages have been reassembled.
The second section is dedicated to the Lucanian phase of the territory with artifacts related to the ancient center of Raia San Basilio, in the Muro area, and to the Hellenistic sanctuary of c.da Fontana Bona in Ruoti.
The third section illustrates the process of Romanization of the area, thanks to the evidence from numerous villas identified in the territory, where the rich mosaics are on display. A section, finally, is devoted to the profession of archaeology, stratigraphic excavation, and the deciphering of the stories the earth tells to those who seek to interpret its language.
