The museum is hosted inside the restored Rocca, a 14th-century military fortress overseeing the Senio valley. The visit path unfolds across the different levels of the building, making it an important point of information, documentation, preservation, and enhancement of the historical memory of the area, allowing visitors to trace the essential aspects of the territory. The interior of the Rocca is arranged in a special and evocative way, with visual and sound installations and the presence of models that show the historical territorial peculiarities, reprising the uses and defensive features of the fortress. In the keep, there is finally an archaeological section with artifacts spanning a wide timeframe from prehistory to the medieval period. Inside the casemates, a path dedicated to medieval defensive and offensive techniques unfolds, centered on the exhibition of scale models of war machines used during sieges and reproductions of personal defense weapons and armors. On the first floor of the keep, the construction techniques employed during the building of the fortress are illustrated, while a model and an audiovisual allow visitors to retrace the construction phases of the complex and understand the role and function of medieval defensive architectures. In the archaeological section, located on the second floor of the keep, the various findings and excavations are reviewed that brought to light the past of an important territorial area such as the Senio valley, whose primary naturalistic and historical feature is represented by the Romagna Gypsum Vein and the renowned cavity of the Grotta di Re Tiberio. In the Well room, a soundscape has been created that, also with the help of some symbolic objects, evokes the figure of Caterina Sforza, lady of Imola and Forlì.
