The Museum is a synthesis and result of the commitment of the cultural Association IL DIDRAMMO with all its branches and services. The idea was to create a Museum that is certainly local, but not lesser for that reason; rooted in the territory, yet forward-looking and ready to be a reference point for the entire Region; above all a laboratory, an “original” place of making, a workshop in continuous activity; open, lived, easy to “use”, with particular attention to education; mindful of training and therefore accessible, culturally and physically, and welcoming to young people; attentive to research, study, dissemination, promotion, and recovery of photography. The Museum is spread over an area of about 70sqm and is divided into three rooms, located on the ground floor of the building that also houses the Restoration and Photography Cataloging laboratories, the darkroom, the dedicated library, and the historical photographic archive. Accessible also to people with disabilities, it is equipped with ample parking. It preserves objects and artifacts concerning the history of photography which have become “archaeological” finds of a continuously evolving technology, notably including: cameras and cine-cameras, some dating back to the very early 1900s, containers for sensitive materials, and objects related to the use of photography. When not engaged in thematic activities, the Museum permanently exhibits in each room materials and artifacts related to the history and techniques of photography and cinematography from ateliers and families of the regional territory. The exhibition activity is integrated with educational and seminar activities aimed at students of all school levels in the Region.
