Ladin Museum of Fassa in Pozza di Fassa, Pozza di Fassa

The new seat of the Ladin Museum of Fassa, inaugurated in 2001, houses the ethnographic collections of the Istitut Cultural Ladin, the result of twenty years of research, organized according to precise logical criteria and dedicated to the different aspects of Ladin civilization.

The Ladin Museum, designed in its essential lines since 1978-79, reflects the image of a living and self-aware community, characterized by its own language, territory, and particular history: the subject of the exhibition is precisely the formation process of a people, or ethnogenesis, through the testimonies of material and spiritual culture from the origins to the present time.

An image of vitality, reflected in the exhibition structure itself, conceived under the guidance of Ettore Sottsass as a place with a contemporary imprint, where the culture of the Ladin minority is defined in its current dimension.

One of the most significant aspects of the setup is the Multimedia Support System, a system of 17 information points, managed by a network of computers and equipped with interactive touchscreens, distributed along the entire museum route: from here the visitor can access 74 short monothematic videos concerning individual objects or aspects of the exhibition, with original sound and texts in multiple languages.

Besides the exhibition halls, the Museum has a visitable storage, a Multimedia Room for educational activities, a bookshop, and a museum shop with high-quality objects and gadgets.

The museum structure is not limited to the central seat but is expanded into the Museum on the territory with its own “Local Sections” that form a true ethnographic path throughout the entire valley.
