The internal activity of the Historical Communications Museum of Rome is aimed at the conservation, care, and promotion of the heritage through actions of:
- Maintenance;
- Cataloging;
- Archiving
The activities intended to be implemented are those related to museography as a discipline that deals with the optimization of the museum structure and the arrangement of materials, the installation of collections, exhibition and technical solutions, the use of spaces, and security.
Research activity within the museum is carried out not only by the appointed staff but also through support from training activities such as internships, in compliance with European directives, which provide for cultural exchanges and mutual enrichment with students of archival, museological, and public communication disciplines.
The Museum also opens its doors to scholars and collectors of postal, philatelic, and telecommunications material.
Research activity indeed allows visitors to reclaim their cultural heritage, becoming active participants in its transmission and enhancement. Thus, the museum listens to the community’s aspirations and takes on, besides the responsibility of conservation, that of interpreting the cultural dynamics of knowledge.
The Museum’s activities are outward-looking, aiming to promote initiatives dedicated to enhancing cultural activities through:
– Education; Guided tours; Exhibitions; Workshops
The Museum is keen to establish a network of contacts with other institutions operating in the sector to promote initiatives supporting cultural tourism.
The section dedicated to education will manage interventions in collaboration with schools and local libraries to promote knowledge and adapt the communicative language to visitors, based on their schooling and the required level of detail.
