The internal activity of the Historical Communications Museum of Rome is aimed at the conservation, care, and promotion of heritage through actions of:
- Maintenance;
- Cataloging;
- Archiving
The activities to be implemented are those related to museography as a discipline that deals with the optimization of the museum structure and the arrangement of materials, the setting up of collections, exhibition and technical solutions, the use of spaces, and security.
The research activity inside the museum is carried out not only by the appointed staff but also through the support of training activities in internships, in compliance with European directives, which foresee cultural exchanges and mutual enrichment with students of archival, museum, and public communication disciplines.
The Museum also opens its doors to scholars and collectors of postal, philatelic, and telecommunications material.
Indeed, research activities allow the user to reclaim their cultural heritage, to become an active part of its transmission and enhancement. Thus, the museum listens to the community’s aspirations and assumes, beyond the responsibility of conservation, also that of interpreting the cultural dynamics of knowledge.
The Museum’s activity is directed externally with the intention of promoting initiatives aimed at enhancing cultural activities through:
– Education; Guided tours; Exhibitions; Workshops
The Museum is sensitive to establishing a network of contacts with other structures operating in the sector, to promote initiatives aimed at supporting cultural tourism.
The section devoted to education will oversee interventions in collaboration with schools and libraries in the territory to promote knowledge and calibrate the communicative language by adapting it to visitors, based on their education and the level of detail required.
