The exhibition path of the Museum is divided into four rooms where it is possible to view ancient artifacts related to agricultural practices in the Massafra area. In the first room, the tools used for weighing oil and wine are on display. Next is the second room, which houses the old instruments for olive oil and wine production. A third room hosts the equipment of the last “carradore” (builder of transport carts) of Massafra. In the last room, which utilizes the southwestern circular tower, one can observe late 19th-century female trousseaux, wooden tools for fabric making, and a collection of Grottaglie and Laertine ceramics for table and cooking use. The Museum also manages an Archaeological Educational Laboratory located in the southeastern tower of the castle. The Laboratory’s activities consist of studying the excavation documentation of the Magna Graecia settlement of San Sergio, analyzing archaeological finds with cataloging and musealization. The laboratory activities are coordinated by a memorandum of understanding among the Municipality of Massafra, the Archaeological Superintendence of Apulia, Lions Club Massafra-Mottola “Le Cripte”, Apulia Region CRSEC TA/50, and the Museum of Olive Oil and Wine.
