The Fort was designed and built between 1833 and 1839 according to the most advanced defensive architecture criteria and is one of the most formidable fortifications in the Alpine arc. The structure consists of a gigantic labyrinth of rooms, corridors, and staircases over an area of more than 20 hectares.
