- Climate: In the North the climate is typically Amazonian with a short dry season and variable temperatures. To the South there is a milder and dry climate. In the highlands there is a strong temperature swing between day and night while between October and April rains are frequent that can cause flooding, often followed by drought periods.

- Transport: There are no direct connections with Italy. There is only one direct flight from Europe, La Paz-Madrid. Other flights are available via Brazil, Argentina, Peru or the USA. The road network is only partly paved. The railway network is practically non-existent; only some sections poorly maintained exist. Air travel is the most efficient transport connecting all the main and some secondary cities of the country.
