The Natural History Museum “Bios Taras” of Taranto, located on Corso Umberto, owes its creation to the efforts of Aldo Bianchi, his wife Anna Fiorenza, and Prof. Paolo Parenzan. Born with the purpose of providing universities and schools of all levels with specimens from the animal, plant, and mineral worlds, the museum has over the years expanded its collections, developing collections of entomology specimens (insects from all over the world including wonderful exotic butterflies and gigantic beetles), specimens of exotic shells from the Red Sea, and mineral specimens. Inside the museum, there are also preserved specimens of reptiles and fish from deep abysses.
