The monumental complex is located on the basalt rock plateau in the territory of Abbasanta. It includes a central tower (keep) situated at the center of a trilobed bastion, equipped with a turreted outer wall and an external defensive wall that enclosed the village. The central tower, built from the Middle Bronze Age (late 15th – early 13th century BCE) and composed of three towers arranged in the shape of an equilateral triangle, is a remarkable example of megalithic architecture for the particular care with which the stone layers are placed. The rest of the complex, dating to the Late Bronze Age (first half of the 13th – end of the 12th century BCE), encloses the settlement area of the original nuragic village, which was continuously inhabited from the late Punic age (late 4th century BCE) until the early medieval period. The phenomenon of reoccupation of nuragic complexes is, in fact, widespread with reference to complex nuraghi, that is, those formed by the connection of multiple towers, such as Nuraghe Losa itself, which therefore also presents particular historical interest in this regard.
