Praia a Mare is nestled between the coast of Maratea and San Nicola Arcella. The location is very lively in summer and presents kilometers of beach that feature the locality Fiuzzi as its flagship. In front of the Fiuzzi beach is the Isola di Dino, once a destination for divers.
Scalea, defined by its name itself: the old village is indeed arranged in terraces, on a hill overlooking the sea, and offers evidence of medieval architecture, Norman palaces from the 12th century, a Cylindrical Tower from the 15th century; ruins of the Grancia and the Franciscan convent from the 13th century. Through alleys and steps, you reach the top of the village, where the little church of Spedale, of Byzantine origin, with frescoes, rises. To the north of the town, you descend to the most spectacular stretch of the coast, where the Arcomagno Cave is nestled.
Modern Scalea instead rises along the coast and is a well-established seaside resort. Another pearl of the Riviera is Diamante, one of the most picturesque towns, with a magnificent promenade, known for the Accademia del peperoncino which highlights all the qualities of the chili pepper with advice and particular recipes based on chili pepper; for the citron granitas and for the murals.
