Il Centro è situato a Perugia nelle immediate adiacenze dell’arco Etrusco e di piazza Grimana, dove ha sede l’Università per Stranieri.
Il POST represents the reference point in Umbria for exploring the universe of scientific culture, installed in pleasant and lively exhibition spaces where the public of all ages can get in touch with the methods and objects of science. An expert group in science education provides constant support to the visit, aimed at inspiring passion and facilitating the understanding of scientific subjects.
Inaugurated in 2003, it is divided into three main sections. The first (Zona Exhibit) hosts 17 interactive installations. Here the public can personally experience some natural phenomena (sound, light, color, and many other wave-related phenomena) and carry out experiences related to acoustic and optical illusions. Another section (Galleria delle Immagini) is dedicated to temporary exhibitions on current topics so that both adults and children can be informed about the new frontiers of science, through interactive displays, in-depth texts, and spectacular images. Finally, the educational room offers deeper explorations of the various points illustrated in the other sections, to be carried out independently with work kits and tools at hand.
