La Pinacoteca civica Francesco Podesti is located in the historic center of Ancona. The current location of the Pinacoteca is at Palazzo Bosdari dating back to 1973. Inside are preserved important paintings by the Anconetan Francesco Podesti, Carlo da Camerino, Arcangelo di Cola, and Andrea Lilli, as well as various precious works from Venetian origins, a territory to which Ancona was closely linked by constant commercial relations. Of notable importance are “The Madonna with Child” by Crivelli, “The Sacred Conversation” by Lorenzo Lotto, “The Immaculate Conception” and “Saint Palazia” by Guercino, the Gozzi Altarpiece by Titian Vecellio depicting “The Apparition of the Virgin”. One section hosts modern art with works by Bartolini, Bucci, Cagli, Campigli, Cassinari, Cucchi, Levi, Trubbiani, and other important contemporary artists. The original core of the works constituting the Civic Pinacoteca dates back to the years between 1880 and 1888 thanks to the donation by Podesti of a large group of his cartoons and sketches. To these are added works coming from churches, municipal funds, deposits, and private donations.
