Di pregevole stile rinascimentale, è situato nei pressi della settecentesca chiesa del Suffragio. Intitolato alla Vergine Annunziata considerata, a quei tempi, patrona della città, venne restaurato nell’ottocento. Tra le decorazioni pittoriche emerge il famoso affresco raffigurante il Battesimo di Gesù, pregevole opera dipinta tra il 1497 ed il 1507 da Pietro Vannucci detto il Perugino.
The oratory was built in 1494 commissioned by the Municipality of Foligno, probably by the architect Francesco di Bartolomeo da Pietrasanta. The oratory is located where a miraculous event occurred in 1489, corresponding to a fresco depicting an Annunciation. The Municipality wanted to erect the sanctuary in exchange for special protection from the Virgin Mary for the city of Foligno. The internal spaces of the oratory are meticulously arranged and are characterized by pillars and finely carved marble frames. The most important work present in the sacellum (votive chapel) is the fresco on the altar of the church of San Giovanni Battista, with the Baptism of Jesus by Perugino.
