The museum is located in the heart of the historic center, in an ancient and characteristic cellar renowned, until a few decades ago, for winemaking and product sales. The museum path, arranged in a single room, characterized by two vulcanite arches, an old brick floor, and a large door, features a faithful reconstruction of the main activities related to the artisanal and agro-pastoral civilization that thrived in Iglesias until the mid-1950s. Part of the exhibition is dedicated to the cycle of bread-making and winemaking. Other spaces are reserved for the work of the shoemaker, blacksmith, carpenter, and farmer with the display of now forgotten tools, such as plows, sickles, mills, barrels, presses, and a majestic cart, which preserve the memory of man’s hard labor. An important area is dedicated to the female art par excellence, weaving, and to the confectionery art with nougat production. Iglesias indeed boasted an ancient tradition of nougat masters known as “”sa familia de turronischi””. Among the most important pieces of the collection are an ox cart and a bedspread from the early nineteenth century.
