The museum is located in the heart of the historic center, in an ancient and characteristic cellar renowned, until a few decades ago, for winemaking and product sales. The museum path, set in a single room, characterized by two vulcanite arches, old brick flooring, and a large door, presents a faithful reconstruction of the main activities related to the artisan and agro-pastoral civilization that was alive in Iglesias until the mid-1950s. Part of the exhibition is dedicated to the baking and winemaking cycle. Other spaces are reserved for the work of the shoemaker, blacksmith, carpenter, and farmer with the display of now forgotten tools, such as plows, sickles, mills, barrels, presses, and a majestic cart, which convey the memory of man’s arduous work. An important space is dedicated to the quintessential female art, weaving, and to the confectionery art with the processing of nougat. Iglesias boasted, in fact, an ancient tradition of master nougat makers who were called “sa familia de turronischi.” Among the most important pieces in the collection are an ox cart and a quilt from the early nineteenth century.
