On July 10, 1943, the Americans and the British landed in the eastern part of our Island respectively near Gela and off the coasts of Augusta. The allies “easily occupied all of western Sicily, while in the eastern part the British and Canadians encountered the blow of German resistance.” (Denis Mack Smith).

The Museum retraces the stages of the war clashes that took place mainly in western Sicily such as Gela, Augusta, Agira, Floridia, Troina, Ponte di Primo Sole, Catania, Messina. It constitutes a living and concrete testimony of what happened in Sicily; conceived and intended not to forget what has been and to reflect on what we want for the future.
