Il 10 July 1943 the Americans and the English landed in the eastern part of our Island respectively near Gela and off the coasts of Augusta. The allies “easily occupied all of western Sicily, while in the eastern part the English and Canadians met the blow of German resistance.” (Denis Mack Smith).
The Museum retraces the stages of the war clashes that took place especially in western Sicily such as Gela, Augusta, Agira, Floridia, Troina, Ponte di Primo Sole, Catania, Messina. It constitutes a living and concrete testimony of what happened in Sicily; designed and wanted so as not to forget what has been and to reflect on what we want for the future.
