Adjoining the Sacello degli Augustali, the theatre is partly covered by modern buildings, but some features of the substructure ambulacra and access to the steps are still recognizable, which at the top rest on the ridge of Punta Sarparella. Currently, entrance is through the lower ambulacrum in a covered semicircle with a barrel vault, excavated in tuff and lined with opus vittatum; buried to about half its height due to bradyseism, it has the entrance of the radial corridors with a brick arch, which led to another more internal semicircular gallery. Opposite the thirteenth corridor, a straight gallery opens, also half-buried in sand. In the privately owned area, a short section of the upper ambulacrum is preserved, and, at a higher level, the remains of a brick arch and a staircase, probably access to the summa cavea.
