Il Museo di Pejo, inaugurated in 2003, collects material that mainly comes from the mountains surrounding the town, found by individual researchers or through territorial research promoted by the Museum itself. The collected materials allow the visitor to get an idea of the daily life of soldiers on the mountains of the Trentino front; in the showcases there are uniforms and elements of personal equipment on display; a field kitchen recalls the problem of supplies and subsistence; a cart recovered on Punta Linke testifies how in these areas the cableway was the main means of transport; to illustrate the medical and health situation, a hut used for first aid has been reconstructed; a tabernacle used in the trench and a portable altar refer to the spiritual life of the soldiers. For some years the Museum, in collaboration with the Superintendency for Library and Archaeological Heritage of the Autonomous Province of Trento, has been organizing high-altitude recoveries aimed at protecting historical sites emerging from glaciers due to melting. Since 2009 the Museum has been engaged in the important project of recovering the Punta Linke site, in order to ensure its conservation and make it visitable. The project should be completed in 2013.
