The museum narrates the millennia-old history of Ancona through artifacts, models, paintings, prints, photographic reproductions, and audiovisual documents. The exhibition path reinterprets the past by providing tools to understand the current city. A continuously expanding structure that also serves as the gateway to the Urban Diffuse Museum, the starting point for various itineraries around a city that lives and transforms over time.
The exhibition is divided into four sections: from the origins to the year 1000, from 1000 to 1532, from 1532 to the end of the 17th century, from the French occupation to the unification of Italy. It is located within the evocative settings of the ancient Hospital of Saint Thomas of Canterbury and the former Fish Market.
