The zoological museum “Cambria”, belonging to the Department of Animal Biology and Marine Ecology of the Faculty of Mathematical, Physical and Natural Sciences of the University of Messina, is located in the department premises in the university campus of Contrada Sperone, in the northern area of the city. Of considerable naturalistic interest, it houses rich collections of vertebrates, insects, and mollusks, with particular reference to the fauna of the Strait of Messina.
