Istituted in 1910, the Gallery is located in the monumental complex of Sant’Anna, an exhibition space of great charm designed by the architect Corrado Anselmi. The gallery houses two hundred and fourteen works on three levels, one hundred and seventy-six paintings and thirty-eight sculptures. On the ground floor, there are works belonging to Neoclassicism and Romanticism, inspired by classical mythology, celebration of Garibaldi, and paintings by Francesco Lojacono. On the first floor, works of realism and masterpieces between the 19th and 20th centuries are exhibited, including paintings by Leto, Bergler, and Catti. The second floor, finally, is dedicated to Italian and Sicilian symbolism and modernism.
