The San Martino Monteneve mining area consists of a miners’ village at 2,355 meters altitude and the former extraction zone, reachable only on foot from the Passiria Valley. From the medieval period until 1967, miners lived and worked here under extreme conditions. Today, the refuge, exhibition, and adventure mine remain to testify the history of the most important lead and zinc deposit in all of Tyrol. From San Martino, a series of informational trails and exploratory routes branch out, both outdoors and underground.
