The “Casa del Nespolo” Museum is housed in an old building in the historic center of Aci Trezza, next to the church of San Giovanni. The architectural structure is typically Sicilian from the mid-19th century, with a courtyard, a small garden, and an entrance characterized by a full-centered lava stone arch.
The interior is divided into two rooms: the first, the “The Earth Trembles” room, collects photographs, posters, and various testimonies of the homonymous masterpiece film by Luchino Visconti, filmed by him right in Acitrezza, in 1947, with a cast of actors chosen entirely from the inhabitants of the small fishing village. The second, the “Malavoglia Room,” houses testimonies of the world of the Trezzoti fishermen from the mid-1800s, with a collection of ancient work tools and everyday life utensils. Interesting are the photos personally taken by Giovanni Verga and the collection of letters to his brother Pietro.
