The museum was born from the idea of geographer Fernanda Gregoli who in 1994, on the occasion of the presentation of the graduation thesis of the student Giovanni Biglione on the Maira Valley, containing a chapter related to the school, proposed to establish a permanent exhibition dedicated to it. Following a long work of research of materials, cataloging, and examination of school documents carried out by a group of teachers from the Valley, the Municipal Administration made the premises available and financed the initiative. Inaugurated in 1999, it reconstructs a classroom with materials dating back to the early years of the twentieth century and a library that collects books from the late nineteenth century up to the 1970s of the twentieth century. Report cards, teacher registers, and photographs testify and tell the story of the school of the past.
