The prelate was known by the nickname “episcopus argentinus” from the Latin name of his native city, Argentoratum (present-day Strasbourg). The tower of the Palace, now disappeared, began to be called Argentina with this name, and later the entire area. The Biblioteca e il Museo Teatrale del Burcardo are the headquarters of the theatrical collection owned by the Società Italiana degli Autori ed Editori, open to the public since 1932.
The museum collections are housed in the rooms of the Museo Teatrale SIAE del Burcardo and include various types of materials: sculptures, paintings, costumes, relics, accessories, and stage objects. The exhibition rooms of the small palace host a permanent exhibition of some of the most significant documents and objects from the Biblioteca and Museum collections.
All the library, documentary, and museum collections are constantly enriched, also thanks to donations from enthusiasts and personalities from the entertainment world.
