December: Cali Fair from 25 to 30
September: World Salsa Festival, from September 14 to 21
Easter: Holy Week in Popayan (lasting 8 days). The Holy Week celebrations are a legacy of Spanish rule and are inspired by those of Seville and Valladolid. The Holy Week processions are very old, dating back to 1566. There are mainly 3: The Palm Sunday Procession with the blessing of the palms; the Holy Tuesday Procession, at night, and the Holy Friday Procession, the most symbolic one that evokes the drama of the Passion.
Besides the adult processions, there is also the Chiquitas Procession carried out by children aged 5 to 11 and the Religious Music Festival.
