La Repubblica of Estonia was an independent state until 1918. Soviet occupation interrupted this autonomy for about half a century, until the end of World War II.
Estonia restored its independence in 1991. Today’s Estonia is a prosperous member state of the EU and NATO, where you can vote online and start your own business in less than half an hour.
Estonia has a low population density and pristine nature. Three quarters of the territory are covered by forests and swamps. The air of Estonia is among the cleanest in the world. Biodiversity is emphasized by not four, but five seasons.
To describe the Estonian land and nature, words like clean, quiet, calm, intact, mystical and ancient, among many others, could be used. The islands, coastal cliffs and the population that honors the green way of life make Estonia a top destination for nature lovers.
