The United States of America is a vast country, making it a diverse destination with something for everyone. It’s home to iconic cities seen in countless films, like New York and Las Vegas, as well as stunning and famous national parks such as the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Yosemite. But the US also boasts beautiful islands and beaches. Even if travel is not yet possible due to the global Covid-19 crisis, it’s always nice to dream about future adventures.

National Parks in the USA

There are 61 national parks in the United States, several of which are recognized as UNESCO World Heritage Sites. This certainly shows the country’s remarkable natural landscapes. Beyond the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Yosemite, there are many less famous—yet equally worthwhile—national parks to discover.

One such park is the Dry Tortugas National Park, a small archipelago of coral islands about 110 kilometers west of Key West in Florida. This is the westernmost reach of the Florida Keys, with over 99% of the park’s territory made up of water. Thanks to its remote location, Dry Tortugas features one of North America’s most pristine coral reefs.

Of course, Hawaii belongs to the United States and hosts one of the UNESCO World Heritage listed parks: the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Located on the island of Hawaii and established in 1916, the park showcases the results of 30 million years of volcanic activity and is a paradise for hikers.

In the state of Maine, you’ll find Acadia National Park. The park protects about half of Mount Desert Island (the largest island on Maine’s coast), several nearby smaller islands, and part of the Schoodic Peninsula. Acadia is home to a wide diversity of animal species, thanks to its range of natural habitats.

Stunning Beaches Across the United States

Unsurprisingly, some of America’s most beautiful beaches are in Hawaii. Travelers flock to places like Maui for its abundance of breathtaking beaches—including the ever-popular Kaanapali Beach. The oldest of the Hawaiian Islands, Kauai offers untouched shores, spectacular sunsets, and breathtaking aqua-blue skies. Florida is another state known for its famous beaches, like Sanibel Island—famous for its shell-dotted sands—or the iconic Miami Beach. On the West Coast, Santa Monica Beach in California is a classic, where many travelers unwind after driving the legendary Route 66.

Entry Requirements for Visiting the USA

Anyone planning to visit the United States as soon as travel resumes is required to obtain travel authorization before departure. All Italian travelers need a visa or an ESTA USA. The ESTA is an electronic travel authorization that allows visitors, who meet all requirements, to enter the US without a visa. Obtaining an ESTA is easier, faster, and more affordable than getting a traditional visa. It’s valid for two years and can be requested now for a future trip, in preparation for when Covid-related restrictions are lifted.
