The goodness and aroma of the nectar from this land were already known in the times of Horace, the Latin historian born in Venosa, one of the centers of the Vulture region, who often praised its peculiarities. The Aglianico grapevine is cultivated on brown soil typical of volcanic areas. And the Vulture, at the heart of which are two small lakes with pristine nature, is an ancient volcano extinct for millennia.
How to reach the Vulture:
From the north: take the A14 with exit at Foggia. Continue towards Potenza with exit at Barile. From the south: A3 Salerno-Reggio Calabria with exit at Sicignano. Continue to Potenza and then take the Potenza-Melfi State Road. Exit at Barile
The DOC Named Aglianico del Vulture
The color suggests the wine’s fullness. This is the Aglianico del Vulture, a renowned DOC red to pair with dishes from the ancient Lucanian tradition based on meat and game.
