In Roman cities, the Forum represented the meeting place for the population for commercial and political activities, administration of justice, religious functions, and generally for various moments of the community’s social and collective life.
The preserved remains date back to the second century AD, with the temple towards the northern end and the civil basilica closing the southern side.
In the center, there are visible remains of some buildings overlooking an open space, attributable to the late Republican Vicus.
The civil basilica, rectangular in shape, was arranged on two levels: the lower one, still surviving today, is identified as a cryptoporticus open to the street that bordered the monumental area to the east; the upper level was accessible from the square and from outside the forum by a staircase leaning against the southern side.
