The museum illustrates, through the exhibition of toys, the evolution of childhood conditions between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, and the related themes of school, society, family, and work. The museum consists of about three thousand items including games, toys, books, posters, comics, stationery, of which about one thousand are on permanent display.
The path is divided into the following sections: What I’ll Be When I Grow Up, Let’s Pretend That.., Me and the City, Moving Images: from the magic lantern to television. Among the preserved objects are the first edition, published in installments, of Pinocchio, a collection of rare optical toys from the eighteenth to the nineteenth century, working cylinder phonographs, air-powered racing cars, and a collection of over one hundred glasses with movement for a magic lantern from 1870.
