The museum, established in 1997 by the social services of the Municipality of Satriano di Lucania, is housed in two rooms of Palazzo Loreti, whose construction dates back to the 18th century, which also houses the municipal offices.
The first exhibition space of the small museum structure follows the model of a faithful reconstruction of a traditional peasant dwelling, which served as kitchen, bedroom, and shelter for animals, while the second room is dedicated to displaying objects used in peasant work. The objects, donated by the town’s elders, have all been inventoried and each has been identified by its local name.
