The Local Craft Museum, also known as the Rural Craft Museum Collection of Wood Carvings by Giuseppe and Giovanni Di Trani, consists of over 2000 wooden artifacts, created by Giuseppe Di Trani and his son Giovanni between 1967 and 1984 and donated in 1991 to the Archbishopric of Acerenza.
The works are exhibited in some spaces of the Convent of St. Anthony, whose construction dates back to the second half of the 16th century. It is a collection of carved wooden objects, mostly related to agricultural and pastoral life (collars for oxen, sheep, and goats, cane handles, etc.) and generally for domestic use (bread stamps, spoons, spindles, shuttlecocks for looms, etc.), along with various types of ornaments featuring phytomorphic, zoomorphic, ichthyomorphic, and reptilian motifs as well as representations of characters belonging to the community of Montescaglioso, the birthplace of Giuseppe Di Trani.
