The Civic Museum of Paleontology and Man, founded in 1996 and officially open to the public in 2002, is located inside Palazzo Majorano, an ancient 19th-century palace situated in the historic center of Lizzano. The museum was created to showcase the evolution of life starting from fossils and later the cultural evolution of man. It houses an important collection of artifacts dating back 600 million years from various parts of the world. Particularly significant are the fossils found in the territory of Lizzano. The museum path consists of a paleontological and archaeological section exhibiting artifacts related to the Neolithic period and the Bronze Age. Added to this are artifacts from the Magna Graecia period, Roman era, and Medieval times. The subsequent sections concern Art, and the Cultures of Africa and Oceania.
