- Climate: climatic differences of up to 30° between north and south. This disparity is increased by altitude and the dryness of desert areas. The country mainly has continental climates; the southeastern region is affected by monsoons and heavy rainfall in the summer months. Typhoons hit the coasts causing storm surges and floods.
