Located inside the monumental Town Hall, the collection consists of over 200 archaeological artifacts dating from the 7th century BC to the Roman era. Black-figure and red-figure vases, Etruscan and Campanian bronzes, Corinthian and Ionic ceramics, bucchero and black-gloss pottery, arranged in three rooms, represent a significant selection of discoveries made in the Sixties and Seventies in the area. The bronze vessels from the archaic necropolis of Vico Equense are of great interest and excellent craftsmanship. There are cauldrons, situlae (buckets), and a “pizzipapera,” a vase with a duck-bill spout. Generally, the bronzes are typical products of Etruscan craftsmanship spread in the archaic period from the 6th century BC throughout the 5th century BC, and their presence in the funerary set is linked to the banquet ritual. At the same time, the bronzes represent valuable objects, indicators of the deceased’s high social status.
