Proposed and built by Fincantieri at the Marghera yards, Costa Firenze draws inspiration from the Florentine Renaissance in its greatest splendor and encapsulates, in every detail, the taste for beauty, which finds its exaltation in the city of Florence. The interior design reflects the harmony of a walk through a street or a square in Florence, starting from the choice of colors, geometries, and design shapes.

For example, the enchanting atrium of the ship, “Piazza della Signoria,” pays tribute to the eponymous Florentine square. Part of the onboard offerings are also characterized by this inspiration, such as Fiorentina Steak House, which offers some of the best Tuscan meats, and the Frescobaldi wine experience, where you can enjoy the Cultivating Tuscany Diversity, the soul of Marchesi Frescobaldi wines.

Costa Firenze Itineraries

Costa Firenze’s first cruises, starting with the inaugural one on July 4, will allow visitors to explore six different Italian destinations within a week-long vacation, Savona, Civitavecchia/Rome, Naples, Catania, Palermo, and Cagliari, which can be explored in depth with dedicated excursions thanks to port stops lasting over ten hours. From late July to late August, the itinerary also offers guests the opportunity to rediscover Malta, with a stop in Valletta, and from September 12, France (Marseille) and Spain (Barcelona and Ibiza), always departing from Italy. During winter 2021/22, Costa Firenze will instead be positioned in Dubai to visit the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Oman. The one-week itinerary includes Abu Dhabi, Doha, Muscat, and a long stopover in Dubai, with specific packages for visiting Expo Dubai 2020. Costa Crociere is, in fact, a Gold Sponsor of the Italy Pavilion at Expo Dubai 2020.

Costa Firenze: also promoting the Tuscan capital

To seal the relationship with the city, onboard Costa Firenze, Costa Crociere’s General Manager, Mario Zanetti, and Florence’s Mayor, Dario Nardella, announced a collaboration for the city’s tourism promotion, with the first act being Costa’s contribution to the restoration of Dante plaques on the 700th anniversary of Dante Alighieri’s death. There are a total of 33 stone plaques, placed at as many points in the city, resulting from a historical research project dating back to the early 20th century. Each plaque bears a quote from one of the three canticas of the Divine Comedy – 9 from Inferno, 5 from Purgatorio, and 19 from Paradiso – referring to places, real events, and illustrious citizens of the time. Following the plaques, which outline a true poetic journey, residents and tourists can relive historical places and events in which the great poet was often a protagonist.
