The new Prime Ministerial Decree (DPCM) of December 18, also known as the "Christmas Decree," sets out the new guidelines for travel and activities during the holiday period. Let's take a look, in a schematic form, at what is allowed and what is prohibited during the Christmas period.
What can you do during the Christmas period? There’s no doubt that more than one Italian citizen has asked themselves this question. - going out during curfew hours, which are from 10:00 pm to 5:00 am, including weekdays and holidays, is prohibited
Red Zone
There are 10 red zone days during the period from December 21 to January 6. In particular:
- December 24, 25, 26, 27 and 31, 2020
- January 1, 2, 3, 5 and 6, 2021
What you can do in the red zone
- Only travel for work, health, or emergencies is allowed
- From 5 am to 10 pm you can visit friends or relatives (a maximum of 2 people). Children under the age of 14, people with disabilities, and non self-sufficient household members are excluded from the count
- Physical activity is allowed near your home
- Outdoor sports are allowed but only individually
- Takeaway is permitted until 10 pm, home deliveries have no restrictions

There are 4 days of orange zone between December 21 and January 6. Specifically:
- December 28, 29, 30, 2020
- January 4, 2021
What you can do in the orange zone
- You can move around within your own municipality
- In municipalities with up to 5,000 inhabitants, travel is allowed within a 30 km radius, but you cannot go to provincial capitals
- Takeaway is allowed until 10:00 PM, home deliveries have no restrictions
