The Shard is the name of a building in London that already holds a record: it is the tallest skyscraper in all of Europe. The Shard – the shard – lights up and defines the London skyline, projecting lights from its pyramidal yet multifaceted structure, right from the heart of the Southwark district.
The Shard bears the signature of Italian architect Renzo Piano and rises 310 meters into the London sky. Inside, there are 95 floors, accessible by 44 elevators that will carry up to 12 thousand people: this is the maximum capacity of The Shard.
Being a true London attraction, The Shard can be visited: at the top of the kaleidoscopic building, one can access panoramic galleries, upon payment of an entrance ticket.
The price is certainly not low: it is about 25 pounds per person for a full ticket (adult), while for children the price is 19 pounds.
Definitely high rates, as high as The Shard building itself: there have indeed been controversies over these prices considered exorbitant, especially when compared to tickets for ascending famous European attractions, such as the TV tower in Berlin or the Eiffel Tower in Paris.
