Il Giardino dei Lauri is the new space dedicated to contemporary art created by collectors Angela and Massimo Lauro to exhibit part of their personal collection.
The Lauro Collection, born in 1990 and now comprising about 300 works, gathers the works of the main protagonists of the contemporary national and international art scene, representing as a whole an extraordinary narrative path through the most current research in the field of visual arts. With the same dose of passion, curiosity, and intuition that guided their choices, Angela and Massimo Lauro now make their most recent acquisitions available to the public in the suggestive headquarters of Il Giardino dei Lauri, immersed in greenery on the border between Umbria and Tuscany.
An essential and fascinating industrial building of 650 sqm, skillfully recovered and renovated, and the actual garden, animated by 70 installations by talented new generation artists.
The roster of artists present, mostly from Italy, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Switzerland, and Poland, sees alongside the more classic names – such as Takashi Murakami, Mariko Mori, Roxy Paine, Michael Heizer, Rudolf Stingel, Ugo Rondinone, Tim Noble & Sue Webster, Massimo Bartolini, and Maurizio Cattelan – a core of authors born between the late Sixties and early Eighties who have more recently come to the fore gaining important international acclaim, such as Aaron Young, Eric Wesley, Dash Snow, Piero Golia, Matthew Monahan, Piotr Uklanski, Urs Fischer, Gary Webb, Martin Creed, and Jonathan Meese.
