Amsterdam Markets
In the Netherlands, the markets are a must-explore, such as the Albert Cuyp Markt, the most famous and frequented in Amsterdam, in the heart of the Pijp district, south of the historic center, where over 300 stalls offer everything: food, flowers, clothing, footwear… at prices considered among the most convenient in the city.
Romantic and fragrant, the central flower market is the Bloemenmarkt, with floating stalls (the last remaining in the city) full of flowers, bulbs, and seasonal plants.
Also in Amsterdam, a large shopping center is the Holland Magna Plaza, near the central Dam Square, housed in a 19th-century building once home to the central post office. But the top department store is De Bijenkorf, known as the “Dutch Harrods“, a mecca of elegant and quality shopping. On its four floors of shops, you can find everything and the best world-renowned brands: clothing for women, men, and children; accessories; toys; household items…

Between one purchase and another, it is very pleasant to take a break at the literary café, the restaurant, and the various internal bistros. Antique and curious item enthusiasts should not miss the Spiegelkwartier, a district opposite the Rijksmuseum, which is a colorful maze of towpaths, narrow streets, and canals, where a myriad of shops selling ancient and extremely fascinating items nestle: paintings, ceramics, jewelry, and artistic glass; books, coins, and memorabilia from when Amsterdam was a naval power.
