The Gallery, just a stone’s throw from the Cathedral, is, for example, one of the cult places, with the side arms crossing to form the famous Octagon, a symbol of the city’s vibrancy.
Around it, some of the most prestigious storefronts in the center are distributed: Prada, Tod’s, Bernasconi, and historic places like the Caffè Miani Zucca, an old “den” of artists, and the Savini restaurant, at whose tables the beautiful Milanese world and beyond has succeeded. In the Gallery, there is also a gem like Piumelli, a unique glove shop, with a small window, whose brand is known worldwide for the quality and refinement of its garments.
A few steps from the Gallery, under the arcades that connect Duomo square to San Babila square, there is Rinascente, another unmissable place; for Milanese people, much more than just a department store.
The name, invented by Gabriele D’Annunzio, and the image advertised for decades by Dudovich posters, have made it a true myth. In addition to the many sales ateliers (mostly single-brand), Rinascente offers a new food store on the seventh floor, allowing it to stand alongside universally known department stores, such as Harrod’s in London or Lafayette in Paris, and spaces for conferences and cultural events, overlooking the panoramic terrace, with an amazing view of the cathedral’s spires.
