Immersed in a holm oak forest, on the border between Barbagia and Ogliastra, the Sa Carcaredda complex includes a nuragic building used for worship, a large village, and four giant’s tombs. The religiosity of the nuragic peoples is illustrated by monuments referring to the cult of ancestors and rites linked to the deity of waters.
The extraordinary finds discovered inside the circular temple underline the cultic and commercial centrality that mountain sites had during the Bronze Age in Sardinia.
