Il c.d. Monumental Park is a vast area of great landscape value within which recent excavations carried out on the top of the hill have brought to light part of a Roman villa of Republican age. The oldest buildings are made in pseudo-poligonal work, consisting of large blocks of tuff, and probably belong to a basis villae of the 2nd century BC. On the remains of these structures, perhaps destroyed due to a fire, a large villa was subsequently built, extending northward along the ridge of the hill. In this area, the residential complex presents remains of rooms and masonry structures with traces of plaster, doors and splayed windows, which suggest it is an open portico facing the panorama of the gulf. On the west side, at a lower elevation, there are a series of parallel rooms, made in opus reticulatum, with barrel vaults and a north/south orientation. Residential rooms were also present on the east side, arranged on terraces, from one of which comes part of a wall decoration in the so-called 2nd Pompeian style with architectural decorations. In a further construction phase, the transformation of the rooms and the construction of cisterns on the north, south, and east sides was carried out, which feature a cocciopesto floor covering with mosaic tesserae insertion and a curb at the base. In the Severan age, the complex extended westward with retaining structures made in opus coementicium.
