The historical-museum path offers the discovery of the most hidden places where ordinary men suffered for the affirmation of a free and democratic Italy, from Unification to the beginning of the Third Millennium.
The architectural structure features the individual segregation of cells, the panoptic system of the First Rotunda, the only memory of the cubicles used by inmates in absolute silence. A mirror of society, it allows understanding how life is lived deprived of freedom in a cell.
Known criminal events are recalled, stories of fascists, the last capital execution in Italy, anti-fascist struggles, the resistance in the notorious first German wing, the testimony of universal values in the cells of death row inmates, terrorism with the barbaric killing of four agents.
A historical and civil heritage of humanity that must not be forgotten.
